Risk Assessment & Management

offers tools for immediate and dynamic judgement of potential risks for any company dealing with consumer goods, food or agricultural products.

Potential risks are wellknown and include image loss with the consequence of loss of trust at their customers with obvious sales decrease.

gsm offers a web-based IT tool which evaluates the potentials of non conformities with defined social standards, Codes of Conduct and their criteria. Examples for standards suitable for a risk assessment are the BSCI Code-of-Conduct, company specific codes and standards basing on the ILO core conventions such as SA 8000 etc.

The identified risk level proposes tools to be used for assurance, control and development and indicates the priorities for countries and industry segments to be included into company specific verification or monitoring programs.

The risk level is defined by the relation between sector specific details in relation with the country of production and company specific purchasing parameters.

Risk factors considered in the assessment are

  • information deficits on producing countries and areas, manufacturing conditions and suppliers
  • non-conformities discovered by critical stakeholders like NGOs etc.
  • factors related to locations, processes and manufacturing habits considered as potentially negative influences
  • missing documentation and proof of measures arranged to avoid non conformities

The Risk Assessment is the starting tool for the holistic process of Risk Management offered as a consequence to companies using the assessment tool.
